  • Group purchase and license of an easy to use and powerful electronic reserves system (ERS), Docutek from SirsiDynix. Docutek enables users to access electronic reserves via the web at any time from any where. WISPALS Full and Participating Members save up to 20% off Docutek’s purchase and license price.
  • Group purchase to a wide variety of highly used academic electronic databases including Ebsco’s CINAHL and ProQuest’s Career and Technology among others for a savings of up to 50% off the list price. The Consortium Coordinator handles all price negotiation with the vendors.
  • Centralized billing through Gateway Technical College. The Consortium Coordinator and Gateway’s financial office pay your WISPALS invoices, charge members back and provide members with monthly and fiscal year end statements.
  • Governance and management representation on the WISPALS Board of Directors and Executive Committee for Full and Participating Members (Full Members have voting rights, while Participating Members do not).
  • ILS and ERS dedicated servers, network services and support from the WISPALS System Operations Manager and Waukesha County Technical College IT department.

The WISPALS wiki is maintained by the Consortium Coordinator, and each member institution has their own login to update their pages as well as share information.
  • Experienced and dedicated staff. WISPALS employs two full time employees, the Consortium Coordinator and the System Operations Manager. The Coordinator acts as a liaison with vendors and library organizations, prepares the annual budget, helps facilitate monthly Executive Committee meetings and assists members in implementing the ILS among other duties. The Systems Manager manages the hardware, systems and applications software, communications network and assists members in implementing the ILS among other duties.
  • Consortium legal services as needed provided by a reputable Kenosha law firm.
  • Participation in the Ask?Away virtual reference service to Wisconsin library patrons. Ask?Away uses the QuestionPoint/247 Reference system to deliver chat based and email reference to their patrons 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Participating WISPALS members split coverage equally.
